Happy NEW YEAR!

First of all, I'd like to thank Sammy and friends at Palm Addicts for a recent mention as well as all throughout the year. Palm Discovery would not be the same without the strong support of Palm Addicts! I wish everyone at Palm Addicts, especially all the Associate Writers all over the world, a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This is a brief time to reflect (like most others) over what the year 2006 brought to us. Here, at Palm Discovery.net, I had no idea or could even conceive at New Years Eve 2005 that things would be the way they turned out in 2006!

Again, at the beginning of 2006, I was still blogging on Blogger as maceyr's Palm Discovery but had no idea what the rest of the year had in store.

I bought an unlocked GSM Treo 650 in mid March during a trip to Tokyo and Hong Kong and have fell in love with it! Although the focus has somewhat become a bit changed from a Zire 71 to a Treo, I still try to keep the focus as general as possible since all Palm users should be able to benefit without feeling left out.

In April, I decided to take the plunge and get a domain name and get a host. At the time, I had no idea of what I got myself into and had to figure it out in a hurry! And then, I slowly started getting more into a groove of what to do as well as my slow expansion of the site via setting up affiliations (as I now figure out that I have to start paying for hosting and domain fees). Through that, I started getting some support from vendors who allowed me the opportunity to promote their products through what you now are familiar with as the Palm Discovery reviews which combine video, photos as well as a detailed write up of products. As well, I've joined Palm Addicts as an Associate Writer and later, helped out at TreoBits. These obviously helps me establish my presence on the web, as well as opportunities to do some software reviews. I enjoy doing something a bit different, such as posting news on these sites since I normally don't do that here and it's a nice change of pace that I love to do, from time to time. I also balance between helping out at the various Palm forums.

Looking back, I'd like to thank everyone for their support of Palm Discovery.net. That includes all the sites and friends I've found this past year through blogs, sites, forums. It's so much fun to find and discover all these wonderful people! There's way too many to name so I'm afraid that I'll miss someone so I guess I'll just thank you all! Thanks to all the sites for linking to mine. Thanks to all the vendors for supplying the products for the reviews! But, most of all, thanks to all the Palm Discovery readers for their support of the site by purchasing products via the affiliate links on the site. Without your support, there is no way that I can continue to keep this site running.

Looking forward to 2007, I hope that the site will continue to grow and I can establish more relationships with the Palm industry and continue to keep doing what I love doing best: blogging about the Palm device and related accessories!

Thanks for a great 2006! Here's to an even better 2007! And it's all thanks to YOU!

Thanks for your continued support of Palm Discovery.net!

Twelfth Otterbox Contest Entry: From Ian, An Avid Windsurfer

This entry comes from a teacher and avid windsurfer. Again, I need to stress that this case is NOT WATERPROOF but water resistant.

I'm a teacher and a parent who's quickly learned to rely on his Treo 700p more than any other piece of technology. Not only do I use it to keep in touch with my family, the Treo is a gradebook for my classroom. I literally carry it up and down the aisles and check off which of my student has done his/her homework. A snazzy case is a great way to get kids excited about the uses and possibilities of technology.

I live in the Hudson River valley region and am an avid windsurfer. The river itself can be a unpredictable beast and it would be very valuable to be able to take my Treo 700p on my board. Once I did get becalmed in the middle of the river and a quick phone call would have been a great way to get some help, and to let my wife know that I'm okay. An Otterbox Case would be a great way to keep safe, tucked away in the pocket of my PFD (Personal Flotation Device).

Thank you.

-Ian Berger

Enclosed is a picture of my family who always like to know their husband and Daddy is safe and coming home from windsurfing.

Thanks for taking the time to submit your entry and for sharing a lovely picture of your family (cute kids). Good luck!

If you wish to VOTE for Ian's entry, please leave a comment below. Keep in mind that your comment/vote will be tracked (hopefully to prevent dupe voting and abuses). If for whatever reason (ie. Eleventh Otterbox Contest Entry: I Want It For My Klutzy Other Half

Here's a different take on the contest submission. This contest entrant wants to win it for her klutzy other half.

I Want It For My Klutzy Other Half

Why should I win................plain and simple. I am tired of my other half dropping and damaging his Treo then me getting to listen him complaining about it all evening when he gets home. Not a day goes by where he doesn't drop it. I am tired of him being grumpy with me for his klutzyness.

Please let me win.

Donna

Thanks for your submission! Good luck!

Tenth Otterbox Contest Entry: Rainy Day Treo…

This contest entry comes from someone who works in emergency services and wants something that can protect the Treo in any weather condition.

Rainy Day Treo...

I work in emergency services and have been a long time pda user. I have integrated my love of both things by using my treo as an on scene assistant for many things. I've even used the data connection to look up information on a medication I knew nothing about, allowing me to assist a pt having an allergic reaction. There's one problem though...I can't use it in the rain! I live in TX, and it can rain a lot, I mean a lot, and it will come from nowhere. A case like this would allow me to use my treo where ever I am, in whatever conditions nature feels like it should throw at me.

Work isn't the only time I'm outdoors either! I love to be outside, whether playing with my son or hiking though the woods. I recently had to leave my treo in my car when I did a little hiking, and felt naked! Also, I'm not gonna lie, I'd love to make my friends green with envy!

Thanks for your consideration!

Thanks for your submission! Good luck!
